It’s been far too long – three years! – but it’s finally time for me to finish my depiction of Rama, the spaceship from Arthur C. Clarke’s novel ‘Rendezvous with Rama’.
I have done some more work on Rama in 2018, but never posted it, because it was an incremental update. Mostly, I have revised the atmosphere a little bit more, and updated the textures of Rama’s plains, adding a bit more detail (such as more roads, more variation in the surface details, etc.) I’ve also given the buildings of New York City a fresh coat of paint, as I wasn’t happy with the colors.
The really important to-do items were the addition of Copernicus and the other craters. Having added them, I now realize they’re barely visible! But they’re there, in the Southern Plains. The cloud layer has also been heavily revised.
I have prepared high-resolution renders in three formats: 2K (1920×1080), 4K (3840×2160), and 8K (7680×4320). Here they are:

Hello Thomas. Your images are amazing and powerful! I wish I could buy a poster of it for my wall. This is my second time through these books. Just can’t get enough of A.C.Clark. Thank you for such a wonderful work of art! You really feel the immensity of the space.
